Support West Campus

History and Vision

Yale's West Campus, located 7 miles west of downtown New Haven on 136 acres, straddles the city of West Haven and the town of Orange. This cluster of 20 buildings, ample parking and acres of open space was acquired in 2007. It includes 1.6 million square feet of research, office, and warehouse space that provides opportunities to enhance the University’s medical and scientific research and other academic programs.

This ready-made research campus will be transformative in advancing scientific discovery, especially in the biomedical sciences. West Campus also holds great promise for Yale’s collections and programs in the arts. Yale’s museums have begun to store materials in the West Campus’s ample warehouse facilities; plans include specialized centers for preservation, digitization, browseable storage, and special exhibits.
